That legacy was honored in true style at this year’s event, where organizers and judges Joachim Künsch, Stefano Nett, and CSWC pioneer Gian Carlo Casparis — one of the very first supporters of the championship and the man who brought CSWC to Switzerland 11 years ago — delivered an event that balanced elegance with fierce competition.

And what a race it was.

Emerging victorious was none other than Tobias Hüberli, a long-time friend of both CSWC and Club Mareva, and one of Switzerland’s most respected cigar voices. As chief editor of Cigar.ch magazine, Hüberli brings not only deep knowledge but also a profound love for the culture of cigars — and on this night, he demonstrated his mastery of the art of slow smoking.

“Tobias is a great champion and a true ambassador of our community,” Gian Carlo Casparis remarked. “It was special to see him win here, in this historic year for CSWC Switzerland.”

But the competition was far from one-sided.Rainer Oberholzer pushed hard, finishing just five minutes behind Hüberli in an intense and well-fought battle for the podium.Fabian Sutter was right on his heels, missing second place by less than a minute — adding even more drama to one of the closest Swiss podiums in recent memory.

The quality of the competition and the atmosphere of

camaraderie spoke to the deep roots CSWC now enjoys in Switzerland — a testament to the tireless work of Gian Carlo Casparis and his dedicated team, who have helped make this qualifier a cornerstone of the championship calendar.

None of it would be possible without the support of the official global sponsors of CSWC by Oliva Cigars:Oliva Cigars, ST Dupont, Cuervo y Sobrinos Watches, DeART Humidors, Boveda, Damat Tween, Cigar Journal, InterTabac Fair, Les Fines Lames, Bosquet Paris Cigar Etuis, and Hulecos — whose partnership ensures that every CSWC event meets the highest standards.

As Tobias Hüberli prepares to represent Switzerland on the world stage in Split, one thing is certain: in a country with this much history and talent, the spirit of slow smoking burns brighter than ever.
