CIGAR BIO:

Samuel Spurr has been writing about cigars since 2004 and a contributor to Cigar Journal since 2006. As Cigar Journal’s Asia-Pacific Editor and Business Development Manager since 2015, Samuel has his finger on the pulse of all the cigar events and players in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a member of Cigar Journal’s bling tasting panel and he is also a reviewer for Cigar Sense.

Samuel has discussed cigars with a variety of industry insiders, from leading manufacturers, cigar rollers to retailers, suppliers, brand ambassadors and cigar collectors - interviewing legends and leading authorities of the industry along the way. As well as Cigar Journal, he has contributed to other lifestyle and industry magazines, including Virtuozity, Australian Bartender Magazine, Drinks Trade, and Canada's Lifestyler. Samuel has been a big supporter of CSWC in Asia since the 2018 qualification events in Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and since 2019 has been an organiser of the Kuala Lumpur qualification event. Participating in the 2018 Bangkok and 2019 Kuala Lumpur qualifications, his results indicated that he should be a judge instead of a competitor! He made his CSWC judging debut at the 2020 Kuala Lumpur event, one of the world’s only live events due to Covid-19 lockdowns around the world.
