The first official CSWC pre-qualifier in Italy took place in Pescara, and the results are astonishing. La Compagnia del Sigaro of Pescara once again demonstrated their passion for cigars and CSWC friendly competition during the time chase event held on April 28, 2023. The event was hosted in the smoking room of the Al Poggio del Sole restaurant and saw great performance from La Compagnia del Sigaro of Pescara . Despite some unforeseen highway works on a main road, which caused delays for some participants, Judge Alberto Mancinelli decided to start the event on schedule with the majority of participants already present.

On the day of the competition, two groups arrived late and started the competition on a delayed basis. Despite the delay, the competition was even more fun as it took place with four different stopwatches. However, the three best times came from the first group, with Marian Nedelea breaking the previous Italian record with an excellent time of 2:08:54.

Familiar faces of successful Italian slow smokers were present in Pescara

Marian Nedelea's success is enormous - it raises the bar for the Italian CSWC community, especially because this is the first time after many years that the two-hour time limit has been broken for Italian competitors, and it was critical to place Italy where it deserves to be, given that the Italian cigar community is one of the largest in the world. For certainly, Italy is currently classified as a slow smoking country for the strong, those who can pass a two-hour hard line. This is the first race in Italy, so we expect to see a lot more. Patricio Tereso took second place with 1 hour and 30 minutes and 3rd place belongs to Roberto Imbastaro with 1 hour and 28 minutes.
