The 2025 season of the Cigar Smoking World Championship by Oliva Cigars continues to ignite excitement across Europe, and this weekend Greece delivered a nail-biting chapter of its own.

Hosted in the heart of Athens and organized by SOTL Greece, under the direction of the distinguished Anastasia Psomiadi, the event drew some of the country’s most passionate slow-smoking aficionados. The judging panel, consisting of Stefania Frarou and Christos Mourgeras, ensured the evening ran with precision and elegance — as expected from the CSWC’s Greek chapter.

From the very first puff, it was clear that this would be a close race. The new Oliva Mareva competition cigar once again provided a complex challenge — a blend of balance, control, and discipline. As the tension built over the course of the evening, it all came down to seconds.

Emerging victorious was Alkis Panagiotis, who claimed the national title with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 43 seconds. Just 25 seconds behind was Kalliopi Katsoulidi, proving once again that the women of CSWC are a force to be reckoned with. Petra’s Katzos rounded out the podium in third place, delivering a solid time of 1:19:50.

Beyond the competition itself, the evening reflected the spirit of camaraderie and tradition that defines the CSWC community. From the ritual of the single-match light to the final burn, every moment was celebrated with elegance, focus, and passion.

With Alkis now preparing to represent Greece at the CSWC Grand Final in Split, all eyes turn to how far this skilled competitor can go on the global stage.
