CSWC BY OLIVA CIGARS CONQUERS SINGAPORE

Last Saturday, CSWC conquered Singapore for the first time, although it happened just outside the borders of the city-state due to tight anti-tobacco regulations.

Trinidad Cigar Club in the neighboring Malaysian state of Johor Bahru graciously opened the doors for the organizers of CSWC Singapore.

More than half of the competitors jumped the border to Johor to compete in the inaugural Singaporean championship, while the other competitors came from Malaysia. No other than the two-time Thailand winner and Hong Kong winner Mutia Chianago flew in from Jakarta to compete as well.

The atmosphere was energetic; fun filled with everyone in good spirit. The competition was going strong but around the one-hour time, suddenly several competitors dropped out of the competition. After an hour and twenty minutes, only three competitors were left standing: Mutia from Indonesia, Bobby from Malaysia and Jeyaratnam from Singapore.

Right before the 90-minute point, Jeyaratnam dropped out of the competition leaving Boddy and Mutia in a head-to-head face off. A face off won by experience, where Bobby’s cigar died at 1:36, Mutia broke her personal best time by breaking the 2 hour mark: 2 hours 1 minute and 30 seconds.

All in all, it was a great inaugural event and many of the competitors said they will compete again next year and will bring friends to join the competition too.
