HISTORIC DEBUT: HUNGARY CROWNS ITS FIRST-EVER CSWC BY OLIVA CIGARS CHAMPION

History was made in Budapest this summer — and now Hungary is officially on the CSWC by Oliva Cigars map!

For the first time ever, Hungary will be represented at the Cigar Smoking World Championship Grand Final in Split, and the man carrying the flag is Péter Adonyi, the newly crowned Hungarian national champion.

After a cancelled debut attempt in 2024, the long-awaited CSWC by Oliva Cigars Hungary premiere finally took place at the elegant Hemingway Restaurant in the heart of Budapest. Alföld Tabak, the official CSWC partner and event organizer, hosted an unforgettable evening that drew 40 guests and 38 passionate competitors — all eager to write the first chapter of Hungary’s CSWC journey.

And what a chapter it was.

“In the end there were four contestants competing for the title – Gergő Kelemen, Ildikó Horváthné Lovas, Kristóf Kalash and Péter Adonyi,” recalls Péter Faragó of Alföld Tabak. “Kelemen’s cigar was the first one to go out, followed by Horváthné Lovas, who smoked for 1 hour, 30 minutes and 40 seconds. When Kalash was done, Adonyi was left alone to claim the title.”

But the victory didn’t come easy.

With a final time of 1 hour, 36 minutes and 45 seconds, Adonyi beat runner-up Kristóf Kalash by just 50 seconds in one of the most dramatic finishes of the season. Cheers erupted as Adonyi became Hungary’s first-ever CSWC by Oliva Cigars national champion — a moment that marked more than just a win. It was the beginning of a new legacy.

Now, all eyes turn to Split, where Péter Adonyi will proudly represent Hungary at the CSWC by Oliva Cigars Grand Final on August 30. One country. One champion. One chance to make more history.

Welcome to the big stage, Hungary. Your journey has just begun.
