The Dominican Republic celebrated the fifth edition of the Cigar Smoking World Championship as the national final took place during Casa de Campo's Cigars in Paradise Festival, bringing together the country's leading slow-smoking competitors.
Organized by Danays León Group, the official CSWC organizer in the Dominican Republic, in partnership with Cigar Country and hosted by Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, the championship was held at the Coral Hall of the El Cacique Conference Center.
After a closely contested competition, Rafael Solano Portoreal captured the national title with an impressive smoking time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 23 seconds. Freylin Pérez finished second at 1:50:12, while Magda Alicia Pérez secured third place with 1:40:50.
The competition was officiated by Judge Danays León Sánchez, assisted by Judge
Ana Camila Besú León, ensuring full compliance with CSWC international rules and judging standards.
Solano's victory adds another chapter to one of the Dominican Republic's most successful CSWC careers. The country's inaugural national champion in 2022 and champion again in 2024, he now claims another national title after facing a field that included two of the championship's strongest competitors.
Freylin Pérez, national champion in both 2023 and 2025, once again demonstrated remarkable consistency with another podium finish, while Magda Alicia Pérez continued her rise as one of the Dominican Republic's most competitive slow smokers.
The 2026 championship also marked the first collaboration between Danays León Group and Cigar Country as co-organizers. Held within the framework of Cigars in Paradise, the event further reinforced the Dominican Republic's standing as one of the world's premier destinations for premium cigar culture and international cigar events.
