REUNION ISLAND CROWNS NEW CHAMPION AND BREAKS NATIONAL RECORD

For the second consecutive year, the paradise of Reunion Island — one of the smallest nations in the CSWC family — proved that size has nothing to do with passion.

Seasoned competitors gathered under the tropical skies of Saint Denis, at the atmospheric Rhumerie de La Réunion, for a national final organized by Corita Cigars.

After a hearty lunch, official judge Jérôme Fontaine-Monetti opened the competition. From the very first puffs, it was clear — local aficionados had taken their game to another level since last year. The room buzzed with concentration, strategy, and that unmistakable CSWC camaraderie.

The battle for the crown was fierce. In the end, it was Sabrina Fontaine-Monetti who rose above them all, defeating defending champion Damien Meullemiestre and breaking the national record with an impressive 1h36min52s — completely penalty-free.

Damien followed with a strong 1h26min30s, also penalty-free, while Dimitri Nalem secured third with 1h22min01s, no penalties.

Adding a touch of artistry to the day, Yvan Bertini received the Special Jury Prize for the Longest Ash — a proud reminder that slow smoking is as much about elegance as it is about endurance.

With emotion and pride, Sabrina Fontaine-Monetti will now carry the colors of her native island to Split, Croatia, where she will stand among the best in the world at the CSWC Grand Final on August 30.
