THORSTEN EBERS CLAIMS CSWC BY OLIVA CIGARS SPAIN TITLE ONCE AGAIN

On July 19th, 2025, the Barcelona Pipa Club transformed into a battleground of slow-smoking mastery as it hosted the Spanish National Final of the Cigar Smoking World Championship (CSWC).

Thorsten Ebers, a Club Mareva member and defending champion of CSWC Spain 2025, managed to lead the new Oliva cigar to victory.

While Thorsten Ebers once again emerged as champion, this year’s journey to victory was filled with suspense, drama, and incredible sportsmanship.

With Spain’s qualifier hanging in the balance due to change of official CSWC main cigar partner From Rocky Patel to Oliva, it was Thorsten himself — a proud member of Club Mareva Split — who stepped up and took responsibility for bringing CSWC experience and excitement to Spanish cigar community. “Spain has so many amazing cigar lovers and communities. It was essential not to lose this stage,” he said. “CSWC is about more than cigars. It connects people, builds friendships, and brings unforgettable experiences.”

And connect people it did. The lineup featured competitors from across Spain and beyond — including Oto Elias, who traveled from London, and Yu Wang, representing China, which joined the CSWC circuit for the first time this season.

Guests were welcomed with Cava from Castell d'Age, before heading into competition mode under the careful supervision of CSWC Judge David Taylor (Fumar Lounge, London) and his fantastic assistant, Mariana Cuencas. Their dedication and professionalism elevated the event from start to finish.

As the evening unfolded, so did the drama.

Ezechiel Symenouh stunned the crowd by smoking through the cigar band with incredible tunnel technique — only to be disqualified for burning the band.

Eduardo Navarro Basabe, Zaquiel Mayorga, and Thorsten Ebers pushed the competition to its limits. Ultimately, Zaquiel secured second place by a mere 21 seconds over Eduardo in a nail-biting finish.

And Thorsten? With calm precision, he stopped the clock at 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds, just shy of his personal best — but more than enough to seal his second straight Spanish title.

With the victory, Thorsten will now represent Spain at the CSWC Grand Final in Split, Croatia, from August 29–31, joining the world’s elite in the ultimate slow-smoking showdown.

The best of the best of Spain CSWC 2025

But the night was far from over.

The awards ceremony, surprise raffles, and warm atmosphere made this an event to remember. Ana Claudia, Thorsten’s partner, won over the entire room with her homemade Argentinian empanadas — unanimously declared the true highlight of the evening!

Special recognition also went to Nolvia Lopez as the top female smoker.

Big thanks to our incredible sponsors:
